ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Adam

My wife and I have been happily married for 19 years and are raising our three kids in the Hillcrest neighborhood. We love living in Mount Vernon and see so much potential for our historic downtown, core neighborhoods, and rural areas. As a committed husband, a proud dad, and someone trying to be a good neighbor, I feel a responsibility to help Mount Vernon form a strong foundation from which to build toward that potential.
DEEPLY ROOTED
My roots in Mount Vernon stretch back five generations, when my great-great-grandparents immigrated from Sweden and farmed what later became the Skagit County Fairgrounds. The family home still stands just beyond the left field fence of Sherman Anderson. In the 1940s, my grandmother was a switchboard operator in the historic Telephone Building on 2nd Street downtown. After marrying in 1978, my parents bought their first home near 18th Street (aka the outskirts of town). Although they ultimately raised their family on Camano Island, we remained closely connected to the Mount Vernon community. I grew up exploring the forests and beaches, building treehouses, crabbing in Puget Sound, riding ATVs, and playing sports.
WELL ROUNDED
After earning my AA from Skagit Valley College and a BA in Business Administration from the University of Washington, my professional experience included leadership roles in banking, health, technology, and investment consulting, in demanding environments from the ground floor to the boardroom. During that time, I experienced the ups and downs of leading through market turbulence, rapid growth, precipitous decline, launching new ventures, standing up international operations, driving challenging projects, and more. Through it all, I built a reputation for my work ethic, calm demeanor, and versatile skill set.
I also hold a Graduate Certificate in Commercial Real Estate Development from UW, and for over 10 years I have been involved in acquiring, renovating, renting and managing residential real estate, from single family homes to small and mid-sized multifamily properties. As an early proponent of missing middle housing, I’ve worked hard to provide clean, safe, and affordable housing options for our community. I’m personally investing in revitalizing our downtown neighborhood, serving as Design Committee Chair for the Mount Vernon Downtown Association while rehabilitating a century-old auto row building into a vibrant community gathering space.
Finally, I serve on the Citizen Advisory Committee for Mount Vernon’s Comprehensive Plan Update for housing, land use and transportation, and I am a graduate of the Mount Vernon Citizens’ Police Academy. This experience gave me a fresh perspective and greater appreciation for public safety and our community’s policing philosophy.
WORKING FOR YOU
I hope to meet you soon, whether at your front door or a community event, and I look forward to working with and for you as a neighbor and dedicated servant helping make Mount Vernon the absolute best it can be.
